The most rewarding thing about being a foster parent is seeing your foster pet happily settled in and well taken care of in their new home.
The most recent adoption was Jazz, who came into the shelter looking like a wet mop:
But he quickly made friends with my mother-in-law, who was more than happy to take him off our hands.
After about a week, he had a trip to the groomer and now he looks like the rightfully spoiled pet he ought to be. He's now living the good life in Michigan.
Then there's Mamba, who was adopted by a fellow foster parent so I get tons of updates about her.
And last, but certainly not least, Finley, who was adopted last summer and grew into a gigantocat.
He had crystals in his bladder, but luckily his mom caught it quickly and took good care of him. Couldn't ask for a better mom =) That's what we hope for with all our temporary babies- a family that loves them as much as we do.

Happy Happy Fat Boy
Finley was adopted back in July, and we are very lucky and happy that his mom sends us updates.
He's actually roughly the same age as Haymitch and Elvis, and look how BIG he is!!

Update: Finley (fka Squishy Fat Boy)
Seriously, I love getting these updates =)
He is about 5 months now, and I think his big brother is almost a year. It seems like just yesterday, his fluffy little butt could fit in the palm of my hand.
His mama says:
ALL GROWN UP!
still adorable <3

...and still smaller than Bug
His mama says:
I think he must have some maine coon or something in him because he is getting a thick fluffy collar and has the fuzzy tips on his ears and has a huge fluffy raccoon tail! he is the best little boy, so smart and talkative, and him and bug are best friends! : )

Fat Boy: Adopted!
Fat Boy had a very successful meet and greet this morning and went home with his new mommy!
He's met his giant big brother, another rescue, and I'm curious to know what his new name will be. We knew he'd outgrow his name eventually =)
Thanks, new mom, for the great pics! (And fast, too!)

How to meet us
Unfortunately, Fat Boy and Twinkletoes did not get adopted today. We had to leave the adoption event early because Mommy had things to do. I figured this would be a good time to tell how to meet them.
Because of previous no-shows, I will not be taking them to work to be seen by potential adopters. This is not fair to them because they have to spend all day in a crate instead of running around the house, and not fair to me because I constantly worry and then get very angry when the person doesn't show. I don't need any additional stress at work.
If interested, please send me an email (contact info is to the right). The days we are available are typically Sunday through Tuesday. The meeting place would be the Wake County Animal Center and the time is flexible. If you do not have any other animals and have no intentions of getting another, please do not inquire about them. There are many animals available for adoption at WCAC, no questions asked. I will ask questions =)

Come meet us!
Both Twinkletoes and Fat Boy had their surgeries today and will be at Sunday's adoption event at Petco in Durham from noon to 3 PM. For $45 each, they can go home! Their adoption fee includes their surgery, microchip and up-to-date vaccinations. They are too young for their rabies vaccinations, but they can come back when they are old enough and get it done for FREE. I'll also include a small baggie of the food they've been eating. Please be mindful that they will only go home with families with other cats/kittens.
Come meet them!

Squishy Fat Boy
Squishy Fat Boy (89348)
He's a very sweet, handsome boy who would love to have a dog to lick his face and a friend to play with. For more information about him or to set up a meeting, please send an email to diadrascritters@gmail.com
Introducing: Twinkletoes and Squishy Fat Boy!
We are proud to announce that both Twinkletoes and Squishy Fat Boy are now available for adoption. Twinkletoes will be on the website soon and both will have updated pics and bios shortly.
They are approximately the same age, about 2 months. Twinkletoes looks similar to a "toyger" or other Bengal mix. Fat Boy is a domestic medium hair, very soft, round and cute. Both kittens are litter box trained and have had no accidents outside their litter box. They share two litter boxes, one on each level of the house, which are cleaned once or twice daily. They both eat dry food (currently Taste of the Wild and Holistic Life Feline) and also enjoy wet food (currently Science Diet). They are up-to-date on all kitten vaccinations and their adoption fee includes their rabies shots, which they are too young for. They can be brought back to the shelter when they are old enough to receive the rabies vaccine. Twinkletoes will be spayed and Fat Boy will be neutered on Wednesday, and then they will be ready to go home!
These two make a great pair but would also likely thrive in a family with other cats. They get along well with their foster sister, an adult pit bull, and will snuggle with her. Fat Boy, especially, loves his dog mommy and will run to her for attention.
For more information or to set up a meeting with them, please email me at diadrascritters@gmail.com.
