Working on binky

Roger has gotten more comfortable. He now has a new cage (wire bottom so he doesn't sit in pee, with a towel to lay on), a new, larger water bottle. He gets out once in the morning and once in the evening. He gets pretty excited in the morning, hopping in the air and shaking his ears.

We call this "binking" (look up videos) and are trying to get a video. We tend to forget in the mornings, when he binks the best.

I'm glad he's finally getting comfortable enough to have fun. Problem is, now he doesn't want to go back into his cage.

He hasn't had an accident outside the cage after those first few days. I think he could be litter trained with some patience. Which I do not have.

Right now, he's doing fine in our guest room. There are no cords for him to chew or anything dangerous. He'd do best in a home with a nice room with easy to clean floors for him to run about all day. Hopefully someone will want him.

Mr. Snuggle Face

This guy is so tolerant.

I haven't worked up the nerve to give him a bath yet, but he has tolerated being combed, having some snags pulled out, and being wiped down with a wet cloth.

Once he gets a bath (not sure I'll be the one to do it), he should be a nice white, not the dingy gray he is right now.

Roger needs a home with easy to clean flooring where he can run around. He's not litter box trained and doesn't know where to pee, but he tends to go in corners.

He's very sweet, though, and likes to explore. And eat.

Roger!

Roger (84256)
Roger is an elder lop mix with wonderful, plush rex fur. He is looking for a family to spend his golden years with. Roger is a very relaxed, easy to handle and gentle rabbit, so he would do just fine with children who know how to safely handle a rabbit.

Since he is older, he will need to be on the best diet of high-fiber pellets supplemented with leafy greens. No fruit or sugars! And as much Timothy hay as he will eat.

Roger is healthy enough to be neutered, so if you have a friend you'd like to try bonding him with, he can be neutered. It might also help him with his litter box training.

Although he is healthy, he may need some dental work done later on. His teeth are in good shape, but his molars are a bit long and may need to be ground down in the future. An experienced vet, like those at Avian & Exotics, would be able to tell you the best way to help Roger live a happy, healthy life.

Plus, they have free beverages!

Roger is an active and curious rabbit and would love a safe place to explore and make his own.

Hello Ladybug!

Miss Ladybug is back! A rescue was interested in her, but their trip was cancelled, so she's hanging out with us until Monday until her mom can pick her up. She's still just as adorable as ever.

You can really see her skin issues in this photo. The grey patches are where her hair has thinned. Hopefully it will grow back once she's well.

This is much better than the crate.

She hasn't once stepped all the way into the plastic crate. Alex said it might be because she can't see out as well. Regardless, she hasn't needed to be crated. The first night she slept on her bed, the second night she actually slept with everyone upstairs on the bed, and last night she slept the first half upstairs, the second half downstairs. She started off downstairs, but Honey didn't like it and went down to sleep with her. I didn't like that, so Alex carried Ladybug upstairs and everyone slept on the bed.

Yesterday was a weird day for Ladybug. She went to work with me and Honey and was in the crate next to her all day. She peed in the volunteer room at lunch time because she didn't completely empty her bladder and she drinks a lot of water.

Last night we meant to take her out right before bed but forgot. She woke us (me) up around 11 to go outside, but before I could get dressed she had peed by the door. Once we got out, she peed for a really, really long time. I have no idea where she keeps it all. Luckily, both times were easy to clean up. I suspect she used to only pee inside, judging from the pads of her feet.

Bye Bye Ladybug

We said goodbye to Miss Ladybug last night. Sad to see her go, but we're glad she has a mom who obviously missed her and will take good care of her. This is one to watch; her mom says she can already see a difference in her confidence level and we definitely fattened her up a little in just a couple days.

It's hard to get over just how cute she is.
