Sofya & Meet Handsome Jack!

First, a quick update for Sofya and her kittens. They are growing so much every day and will be ready to move into the world within the next week or so. Sofya gave us a scare when she dropped from 6 lbs to 4.88 lbs in just a couple days, but the vets say she's doing fine now. Once she can stop nursing, she'll be well on her way to putting on weight. The kittens all have names now: Samba, Mambo, Tango and Minuet. It's hard to tell them apart right now, but it's possible.

Sofya was not happy with our new house guest, Handsome Jack, who has been neutered but probably still smells like an unaltered male cat since it was just a few days ago. He's sweet as can be, though, and hopefully Sofya will come around.

Handsome Jack was turned over the animal control after someone called to report a cat not receiving vet care. The owner said she couldn't afford it, and the officer finally got her to sign him over. It would have been better for him to be humanely euthanized than die from the infection. Thankfully, the vets took a look at him and decided to patch him up and send him into foster. He's incredibly sweet but terrified of the other pets, especially the angry mama kitty that he heard throwing a fit outside his door.
